Miss Kelsey has been dancing for essentially her entire life. Her love of dance began when she took her first jazz class as a supplement to her competitive gymnastics training.

Before long, Miss Kelsey had made the switch into dance where she explored training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, acro, and hip hop. Over the years, she became a dancer known for her charisma on stage, winning many judges’ choice awards for showmanship and audience engagement.

In her final year of high school, she became a representative for Dance Attack Workshops, where she was privileged to learn from famous choreographers and dancers such as Jordyn Clark, Shane Sparks, DTrix, Lauren Froderman, Lauren Gottlieb, and Alex Crenian.

Miss Kelsey was lucky to continue her pursuit of dance in university. As a student at McMaster University, Miss Kelsey also worked as the Administrative Coordinator of McMaster’s Centre for Dance Performance, where she was able to learn about dance not only as an art, but also as a business. At the same time, she became the student director of McMaster Dance Company’s Urban Division.

For the last three years of her university career, Miss Kelsey lead a group of 20 hip hop dancers to achieve top ten results at top level Ontario dance competitions. In her final year at McMaster, Miss Kelsey was also fortunate to explore dance further through her undergraduate thesis project, where she explored the labour market experiences of starving artists in the dance industry.

This past June, Miss Kelsey graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Labour Studies from McMaster. Now, as Miss Kelsey embarks on a new journey, she is exploring the arts in as many ways as she can. She has recently become certified as a Zumba instructor and is working towards other fitness certifications as well. She is extremely excited that Performance Dance Academy will be part of this new phase in her life!
